What is the best program for weight loss? I'm trying to find a weight loss program to suit me. I did weight watchers for a long time and I'm just finding it difficult to continue that program. I do want a program though because I feel like I need the structure of it. Any ideas about programs that work for the long run?

Strength training in a weight loss program? One always hears how strength training is good for a weight loss program, or how permanently switching to a better diet and incorporating strength training will add muscle and bring down the fat level. How is this possible, though? Doesn't the body need a surplus of caloric intake (relative to stable rate) in order to add muscles, and a deficit of calories to burn fat? How do those two elements go together? My guess would be that eating the biggest meal of the day, with slightly more protein than usual, following a strength training session will result in a "surplus" of calories for a short "time window" (say, the 3 hours following a workout) and in that time frame, the body will actually use energy/protein to build muscle. Once one goes back to small portions, the body will once again resort to burning fat instead of building muscles. So basically, strength training with weight loss is possible, although the strength gains will be lesser than usual, and the weight loss slower?

Let me start this by saying that I understand that the best way to lose weight is through sensible eating and regular exercise, but for me, it's hard enough just staying on a diet let alone trying to calculate every single calorie that I eat and burn. I went to Lindora and loved their program. I was so excited! My breakfast is usually half a cup of cheerios, w/ skim milk. I may have fruit instead, though. My lunch is usually just an assortment of veggies, maybe some Triscuits thrown in, too. And I have a variety of dinners, all home-cooked and healthy. I may have a dessert, which is usually a sugar-free popsicle or some cookies made with Splenda instead of sugar. Not every day is like this, obviously it differs, but it doesn't change a whole lot health-wise. So, in your opinion, is this a realistic weight loss program?

any good substitutes for the Medical Weight Loss Program vitamine pills? or the nutrients they sell? I just joined the program a week and a half ago and they keep telling me that I will lose more weight quickly if I take the vitamines and nutrients they sell. Well, money is tight and cant afford the price they ask for those things. I just wanted to know if there were other over the counter nutrients that I could take that would be cheaper or a website that shows some substitutes for the "extras" they sell at the office. Is it a "cheat" to a weight loss program to have cosmetic procedures (like lipodissolve) done while dieting? Weight loss is a huge issue (pardon the pun). While some have no problem with it, others struggle with it every day. Do you consider changing eating habits, lifestyle and emotional responses to be so simple that one should be able to simply "put the fork down"? If so, do you think things like liposuction, lipodissolve, or other such cosmetic treatments are "cheating" in order to lose weight? What if it's in conjunction with a weight loss program, such as Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig?
I am looking for a healthy weight loss program that is fairly easy and doesn't involve deprivation. ? Can you suggest a REALISTIC weight loss program? I'd like to lose 30 lbs in 6 months or less. I did it about 5 years ago using the Atkins but it was also because I wasnt eating from depression. IIve gained it back since. Much of it from drinking beer, which I do MUCH less of now! I didn't mind not eating when I was depressed but really dont want to go that way now since its unhealthy. I can stick to a program, I just need something to stick to. I dont believe the Atkins diet is right for me at this point of my life. Can you tell me if this sounds like a good weight loss program? Monday- 45 minutes cardio, arms. Tuesday- 45 minutes cardio, legs. Thursday-45 minutes cardio, arms. Friday-45 minutes cardio, legs. Saturday- step class and then pump class....1.5 hours. I'm watching my calories I'm not eating less than 1,200 and no more than 1,500. But I ride the eliptical machine with a resistance level of 9?

Why is it so expensive for an obese person to participate in a weight loss program? If you want to get the best benefits from most commercial programs...that are available today, spas, gyms, diet and nutrition programs, etc. you have to pay a small fortune to participate. I would give anything to lose 150 pounds, and have tried numerous ways to do so...but cannot afford the programs or gyms, etc. to assist. Is there a better way?

Hey there, so i bought a treadmill, i plan on walking an hour a day at 3.4-3.6mph. i think that's what it is, at an incline of 2-2.5, is this a good plan for looking to lose some weight? Tips for kickstarting a weight loss program? I'm a seriously overweight individual. Have just joined a gym and start in a week. I get a one on one personal training session each week which is great and should keep me motivated! Was just wondering if anyone had suggestions as to healthy eating suggestions. Don't want a fad diet- or miracle cure. But aside from the obvious 5 veg 2 fruit blah blah blah, is there anything you guys have tried or can suggest. I'm someone who skips breakfast- can't handle eating at all in the mornings, which is bad, I know- so would love some imput there! Lunch is always "subway" 6 inch healthy option and dinner is usually balanced. Also- what are your opinions on snacking? Good thing or bad thing? I usually eat meals at about 5 hours apart, no snacks just diet softdrinks and water. Need to lose a "butt load" hehehe! But don't want a silly option that requires too much thought or not enough food!
I want to buy the Jennie Craig meals -- only the ones I want -- and do not want to go to a weight-loss program I really am not interested in going on a diet as I don't think I need to at my age and weight is okay. However, I had some of her meals years ago but did not want to eat breakfasts, at least not most of them, and certainly not desserts (I do not like desserts usually). Does anyone know where I might buy the dinner and or lunch meals just from a supplier or something? I'd appreciate any answer you may have. Also, I love eating the many choices of frozen meals out there in the markets. I always cooked tons when I was not disabled but now these frozen meals are so much better now days and I prefer not to cook too often. Thanks bunches.
